To ensure adequate supply to vegetable oil refineries, Cameroon imported 100,000 tons of crude palm oil and derivatives from Gabon and Indonesia in 2018.
This information was provided by Emmanuel Koulou Ada, Chairman of the Oilseed Industry Regulatory Commission, after the meeting held in Yaoundé.
Singaporean group Olam ensured the import of the volume from Gabon while that from Indonesia was ensured by "Indonesian traders". Each country provided 50,000 tons, Mr. Koulou said.
Remind that the annual structural shortfall of Cameroon's crude palm oil reaches a peak of 100,000 tons per year, and now officially reaches 130,000 tons.
This shortage of palm oil is due to the increased refinery investment and less-effective local production.
