Transport ministry carries out biggest project to develop railway at LE 225B

The Ministry of Transport has denied as groundless reports on neglecting the existing railway system.

In a statement Sunday, the ministry said it is carrying out the biggest project to develop the railways with a budget exceeding LE 225 billion.
 
It said the development process covers the infrastructure, workshops, signals as well as training of cadres, adding the trains speed will be 230KMs per hour for express trains and 160KMs per hour for slower trains.
 
It pointed out that the development of the new railway system would serve all categories of society where large quantities of goods will be ferried through the newly developed railway network.
