The Egyptian Furniture Export Council announced that the sector's exports during the first four months of 2021 increased by 29 percent to $87 million, compared to $67 million during the same period of 2020.
The monthly report issued by the Council, Wednesday, indicated that the sector’s exports increased during last April by about 98 percent, to record $17.36 million, compared to $8.76 million during April 2020.
It added that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia ranked first in terms of countries importing Egyptian furniture during the first four months of 2021, which increased by 23.2 percent to reach about $21 million, compared to $17 million during the same period of 2020, and the United Arab Emirates came in second place, which rose by about 9 percent, recording $12 million, compared to $11 million.
It explained that Egypt's exports of furniture to Iraq rose during the first four months of this year by 83.3 percent to reach about $11 million, compared to $6 million during the same period last year.
Sudan ranked fourth in terms of countries importing Egyptian furniture, with a value of $6 million, against $5 million, with an increase of 20 percent, followed by the Sultanate of Oman with $6 million, compared to $7 million, with a decrease of 14.2 percent.
Jordan ranked sixth in terms of countries importing Egyptian furniture, which increased its exports to reach $4 million, compared to $2 million during the same period last year, marking an increase of 100 percent, followed by the United States, whose exports amounted to about $3 million, compared to $4 million, down by 25 percent, followed by Libya, whose exports rose to $3 million, compared to $2 million, while Egyptian furniture exports to the rest of the world increased to $20 million, compared to $14 million, with an increase of 42.8 percent.
