The Egyptian Furniture Export Council said that the furniture sector's exports during the first nine months of 2021 increased by 13 percent to $184 million, compared to $163 million during the same period of 2020.
The monthly report issued by the council, Tuesday, indicated that the sector’s exports dropped in September by about 32 percent, to record $18.5 million, compared to $27.146 million during September 2020.
It added that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia ranked first among countries importing Egyptian furniture during the first nine months of 2021, with its imports declining by 6.1 percent to reach about $46 million, compared to $49 million during the same period of 2020.
The UAE came in second place, with its imports rising by about 9.5 percent, recording $23 million, compared to $21 million last year.
It said that Egypt's exports of furniture to Iraq rose during the first nine months of this year by 5.5% to reach about $19 million, compared to $18 million during the same period last year.
The Sultanate of Oman ranked fourth in terms of countries importing Egyptian furniture, with the value of its imports amounting to $15 million, against $14 million last year, with an increase of 7.1%, followed by Sudan with $12 million, compared to $10 million a year earlier, with an increase of 20%.
The United States ranked sixth on the list of importers of Egyptian furniture, with its imports increasing to reach $10 million, compared to $5 million during the same period last year, followed by Jordan, whose imports amounted to about $9 million, compared to $8 million in the first nine months of last year.
