Assistant to the Minister of Housing Abdel Khaleq Ibrahim stated in a phone-in that 25 percent of the surface area of New Alamain City is allocated to industrial activities.
The official clarified that the industrial zone is located southern the city in the desert area. The activities there are expected to be relevant to agribusiness, as the site very close to the New Delta, which is a project targeted at reclaiming 2.2 million feddans (one feddan equals 4,500 square meters) in the desert.
Ibrahim further pointed out that the project is not just offering units and hotels for domestic and international tourists to spend their holidays by the Mediterranean but also comprises universities and large hospitals.
The assistant to the housing minister added that New Alamain will also house a "Patrimonial City," which spans over 62 feddans. The city is planned to have an opera house, exhibition halls, cinemas, theater, film studios, and other locations equipped for practicing cultural and artistic activities.
Al Watan newspaper acquired in April updates on the construction of New Alamain City, learning that a public beach is being introduced in a bid to dispel the perception of the novel coastal destination as exclusive to the rich.
Contractors are currently finalizing the facades of 15 waterfront buildings, while others are being introduced in the same area. The shopping and entertainment center – consisting of a parking area whose capacity is 3,000 cars - is almost over.
As for the neighborhood dubbed "Downtown," the delivery of differently-sized 1,320 units distributed among 40 flat-buildings has begun. As for under-construction units in the area, their number is 896 and they are located at 24 buildings.
With regard to the Latin Neighborhood spanning over 404 feddans and divided into six districts, constructions are completed and finishing works have started. That neighborhood comprises parking areas, gardens, parks, and artificial lakes.
The delivery of the 1,080 units at the first phase of the Premium Housing Neighborhood is completed. That phase is composed of 45 buildings, while the second, which is still under construction, has 35. The 840 units of the second phase are being offered to Egyptian expats in competitive prices, if they pay in foreign currencies.
Regarding middle-class units, 4,096 of those – divided upon 128 buildings – are being built in a residential-compound named "Sakan Misr," and will also be offered to Egyptian expats.
The corniche – stretching on seven kilometers - is being finished either, including the bridges extended through its road. Also, the introduction of utilities such as natural gas, water supply, wastewater, electricity, telecommunications and road networks is underway.
