Egypt-China trade exchange volume reaches $13.9 bln in 2023

The volume of trade exchange between Egypt and China reached $13.9 billion in 2023, compared to $16.6 billion in 2022, according to Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).
 
The volume of Egyptian exports to China recorded $909 million during 2023, compared to $1.9 billion during 2022, while the volume of Egyptian imports from China reached $12.9 billion during 2023, compared to $14.8 billion during 2022.
 
The most important commodity groups exported by Egypt to China during 2023 are:
 
1. Fuels, mineral oils, and their distillation products, worth $414 million.
2. Stone and cement products worth $116 million.
3. Fruits worth $78 million.
4. Machinery and electrical appliances worth $31 million.
5. Copper and its products worth $27 million.
 
The most important commodity groups imported by Egypt from China during 2023:
 
1. Machinery and electrical appliances worth $4.3 billion.
2. Iron and steel worth $1.2 billion.
3. Synthetic textile fibers worth $1.1 billion.
4. Organic chemical products worth $790 million.
5. Plastics and their products worth $773 million.
 
The value of Chinese investments in Egypt recorded $956.7 million during the fiscal year 2022/2023, compared to $563.4 million during the fiscal year 2021/2022.
 
While the value of Egyptian investments in China amounted to $208.4 million during the fiscal year 2022/2023, compared to $126.5 million during the fiscal year 2021/2022.
 
The value of remittances from Egyptians working in China amounted to $19.5 million during the fiscal year 2022/2023, compared to $13.2 million during the fiscal year 2021/2022, while the value of remittances from Chinese working in Egypt amounted to $3.5 million during the fiscal year 2022/2023, compared to $4.1 million during the fiscal year in 2021/2022.
 
Egypt's population recorded 106.4 million people in May 2024, while China's population recorded 1.4 billion people for the same period.
 
The number of Egyptians present in China, according to the mission’s estimates, reached 6,600 thousand Egyptians until the end of 2022.
