Egypt is preparing to unveil a new five-year economic strategy before the end of 2025, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly announced during a recent press conference. The plan will outline a clear roadmap for the national economy, focusing on sectoral priorities, investment targets, and a structured approach to managing public debt.
Madbouly emphasized that the upcoming strategy will be grounded in the principles of Egypt Vision 2030 while being updated to reflect recent global and domestic economic changes. Notably, this initiative comes even as Egypt’s current cooperation program with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) is expected to conclude next year.
In addition to economic planning, the Prime Minister addressed Egypt’s energy security, stating that the country has established a reliable system to meet its natural gas needs for the next five years. This stability is supported by floating regasification units, which act as a temporary measure until domestic gas production rebounds to previous levels.
He also noted that Egypt is making steady progress in reducing its outstanding dues to international petroleum partners, with payments decreasing on a monthly basis.
On the financial front, Madbouly revealed that the government, in partnership with the Central Bank of Egypt, is developing new financial instruments to incentivize remittances from Egyptians living abroad. These initiatives include the introduction of attractive savings products designed to channel more foreign currency into the economy.
