Morocco’s OCP Group, the world’s largest producer of
phosphate and phosphate-based fertilizers, has been included in the latest “Chemicals 50” ranking released by Brand Finance, a leading global brand valuation consultancy. As a new entrant to the list, the Moroccan state-owned phosphate giant holds a brand value of $603 million, supported by growing global demand for phosphate fertilizers, continuous capacity expansion, and an expanding international presence.
OCP controls 68% to 70% of the world’s phosphate rock reserves and accounts for 31% of the global phosphate product market. It ranks fourth in agricultural fertilizer production worldwide, trailing Nutrien, Yara and Mosaic, while outperforming ICL.
According to the report, Germany’s BASF retained its position as the world’s most valuable chemical brand, followed by SABIC and Dow. The global chemical sector saw a mild recovery in 2026, with the total aggregated brand value edging up 1% to $83.3 billion. Last year, the sector’s total brand value stood at $82.5 billion, down from the 2024 peak of $83.7 billion due to shrinking profit margins and weak investor confidence.
Geopolitical tensions further cloud the industry outlook. Recent energy supply disruptions, including attacks on Middle Eastern liquefied natural gas facilities in March 2026, have exposed the fragility of global chemical feedstock supply chains.
