Per the Bank of Ghana's May 2026 Summary of Economic and Financial Data, mobile money transactions across Ghana totalled GH¢493.2 billion in April 2026, encompassing 967 million individual deals.
These statistics underscore ongoing growth within Ghana’s digital payment landscape. Transaction value edged up from GH¢484.6 billion in March 2026, demonstrating steady adoption of mobile‑based financial services nationwide.
The central bank’s report further noted growth in mobile money account registrations, jumping from 80.5 million in December 2025 to 83 million by April 2026. Active user accounts held steady at 26 million, while registered mobile money agents increased to 992,000 — of which 534,000 remain operational.
Mobile money float balances expanded as well, climbing from GH¢35.4 billion in March to GH¢36.7 billion in April, pointing to improved liquidity across the digital payments ecosystem.
Interoperable payment transactions meanwhile hit GH¢5.8 billion, generated through 31.7 million operations.
Other payment platforms recorded robust activity too: cheque settlements reached GH¢36.6 billion via 413,000 transactions, and Automated Clearing House direct credits amounted to GH¢13.5 billion from 816,000 transfers.
In addition, Instant Pay transfers processed by the Ghana Interbank Payment and Settlement Systems surged to GH¢79 billion in April, compared with GH¢71.5 billion in March, supported by close to 19.9 million transactions.
