Elite Agro Launches New Blueberry Farm in Kenitra, Its Seventh Site in Morocco

UAE’s Elite Agro has announced the inauguration of its seventh farm in Morocco’s Kenitra as part of the company’s expansion approach.

The firm inaugurated its seventh farm in Morocco through its local subsidiary, Elite Harvest Maroc. The farm spans 200 hectares, which is dedicated to bribery and raspberry production.

Hasan Halawy, CEO of Elite Agro Holding, said the opening of this farm is an “important step” in the company’s strategy to position itself as “the leading berry producer in the Arab world and a significant player in global markets.”

Halawy also commended Morocco as not only an important market for the company but also their largest berry production platform.

“We are continuing to scale our operations through a strong pipeline of projects,” he said,  describing the sector as one of the highest-growth categories in global fresh produce.

Elite Agro Holding’s direct investments exceed AED 500 million, which is equivalent to approximately $136.14 million.

“These investments have contributed to the creation of more than 8,000 jobs, reinforcing the group’s belief that sustainable agricultural development must generate long-term economic and social value for local communities,” he said.

Beyond Kenitra, the group also operates in Sidi Yahya, Beni Lellal, Sefrou, Marrakech, Fez, and Benslimane, with sites cultivating not only berries but also other produce like apples, peaches, grapes and more.

Many reports stress the importance of Morocco’s berry sector, with the website East Fruit describing the blueberry industry as a global success story.

“According to the USDA report, the 2023/24 season marked a historic milestone for Moroccan blueberries, with exports reaching approximately 67,300 tons—an impressive 25% increase from the previous season. This growth underscores Morocco’s strengthening foothold in the global blueberry market,” East Fruit said.

Morocco’s exports of the produce are also booming. Spain remains the largest importer, followed by the UK, the Netherlands, Germany and France in the 2023/2-24 season.
