Zhu Tao, Manager at Oriental Plastic Products Limited, a Chinese manufacturing firm, confirmed this to Xinhua/CNC on Friday during the three-day 2017 Powerelec Conference and Exhibitions.
Zhu, who said Ghana was a good location for manufacturing, disclosed that the company was helping to break the huge importation of PPI pipes and fittings into the country.
“We produce plumbing materials like PPI pipes and fittings in the Tema Industrial area. This one you can use for 10 years, 20 years and 30 years with no problem. Before we started this project in Ghana we checked the Ghanaian market and everything and we think here will be better for manufacturing,” he stated.
He said around the world, people preferred to use PPI because it has advantages and is better than PVC pipes.“Now, like hotels and apartments people prefer cold water and hot water but PVC cannot be used for hot water.”
Ma Yunyun, representative of JuBang Group of Companies from Yueqing in Zhejiang in China, said she saw Ghana as a developing market that could link manufacturers to the larger West African market.
“Our company’s name is JuBang Group Company Ltd. We are manufacturers of Circuit Breaker; Transformer; Switch Gear and sub-stations. The reason we are here is Ghana is a better market in West Africa.
“We’ve been operating from 1993. We have the plan to open a shop here maybe in the future within one year or two years.”
Feng Hall, who represented Kaihua Power, manufacturers of perkins and other diesel generators, said Ghana was a very fantastic market.
“I think Ghana is very big in West Africa and I think if we develop this area in West Africa, Ghana will be our big market. By the way, this is my first time in Ghana and I believe that I will be here in the next time.”
Wang Linli, Sales Director of KeyPower, says her company has made contact with potential clients in Ghana through the online marketing site, Ali Baba and “Made-in-China”.
“We are located in Fuzhou City in Fujian Province in China. Our production capacity is about 500 units for one month. We sold generators to this Frimps Oil Company (Ghanaian Oil Marketing Company) and there are many opportunities here because we got many enquiries from Ghana on the internet from Ali Baba and “Made-in-China”. We got enquiries from this country for diesel generators and we think Africa is growing now in its economies.” Enditem
