A Chinese seven-member business delegation from the Foshan Chamber of Commerce in Guangzhou Province on Tuesday met with the Ashaiman Municipal Chief Executive, Albert Boakye Okyere and some officials of the Assembly to discuss investment opportunities in Ashaiman.
The delegation led by the Chairman of the Foshan Chamber of Commerce, Wu Wey Xin will be spending about five days in Ashaiman to explore business opportunities. Their visit was to reciprocate an earlier visit by the MCE and some officials to China last month.During the visit to China, the Chamber signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Ashaiman Municipal Assembly to US$50million in infrastructure projects in Ashaiman Municipality.
The MOU which was signed under Public Private Partnership will focus on infrastructure projects in the area of construction of International Truck terminal, affordable housing, markets construction and automobile services.The delegation toured the various sites where the projects would be situated.
Speaking in an interview with journalists after visiting the projects site, the spokesperson for the delegation Kofi Kwain noted that the team were very happy about the kind reception offered to them by the assembly.
He explained that the delegation comprised real estate developers, cement manufacturers, automobile experts, ceramics manufacturers etc.
"The Chief Executive has introduced them to a lot of business opportunities in the Ashaiman Municipal assembly which they have also welcomed it in good faith. Very soon the two cities would come together and embark on projects," he explained.
According to him, if all the process goes through (signing of contracts) the projects should commence in about six months’ time.
The Municipal Chief Executive for Ashaiman, Mr Albert Boakye Okyere on his part expressed his gratitude to the delegation for choosing to come and invest in Ashaiman. He is very looking forward to this corporation.
