The relevant offical who is in charge of the National Development and Reform Commission of China said on the 7th that China has successfully signed a memorandums of understanding (MOUs) on the "Belt and Road" with 37 African countries and the African Union.
In the future, China and Africa will do all the follow-up work of the memorandums of understanding in an all-round way, and strive to achieve practical results as soon as possible in the areas of facilities and trade.
The number of African countries who signed the MOUs account for 70 percent of all the 53 African nations that attended the 2018 Beijing
Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) that concluded Tuesday, according to Xia Qing, an official with the National Development and Reform Commission(NDRC).
Xia, who is deputy head of the NDRC's international cooperation department, noted that 28 African countries and the AU inked the MOUs during the summit while the other nine countries had signed before the summit.
China aims to sign cooperation documents on the Belt and Road development with all African countries and will steadily push cooperation to achieve tangible results and benefit African people, according to Xia.
It is understood that during the Beijing Summit, China signed a capacity cooperation framework agreement with Côte d'Ivoire, and signed a memorandum of understanding on key projects with Egypt, South Africa and
Ghana, involving 42 capacity-cooperative power supply projects; Chinese financial institutions also signed loan agreement with the governments of Guinea and other countries to support African countries in improving infrastructure conditions.
According to reports, up to now, China has signed 123 "One Belt, One Road" cooperation documents with 105 countries, covering countries in Asia, Africa, Europe, Latin America and the South Pacific. At the same time, China has signed 26 cooperation documents with 29 international organizations
