Since Africa is one of the most dynamic developing regions worldwide, and the 1st International Symposium on West African Studies (ISWAS) was concurrently conducted with 2017 International Conference on Public Administration (ICPA) in Ghana in association with the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC), American Society for Public Administration (ASPA), Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) and University of Ghana (UG) Ghana on West African Studies (ISWAS) at Cape Coast, Ghana, from November 16-17, 2017. Focusing on the theme Promoting Social and Economic Development in West Africa from Global Perspective, the 1st ISWAS has brought together an array of authors and topics drawn from many countries and regions and attracted international interests and inquiries from scholars and practitioners in China, Ethiopia, Ghana, India, Indonesia, Lesotho, Japan, Macao SAR of P.R. China, Nigeria, Netherlands, Philippines, South Africa, South Korea, Uganda, the United States, the United Kingdom and Zambia.
Six years later, the 5th ISWAS will be hold in Ghana again in association with University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC), Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), Ghana Chinese Chamber of Commerce，and Center for West African Studies of UESTC. Focusing on the theme Promoting Social and Economic Development in West Africa from Digital Economy Transformation and Development Perspective, the 5th ISWAS will address ways of having the issues, challenges and problems facing western African countries in the process of digital economic and social development.
The University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC), in cooperation with the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), Ghana Chinese Chamber of Commerce, and the Center for West African Studies of UESTC is delighted to bring together distinguished speakers from many countries to discuss challenges and new ideas on Promoting Social and Economic Development in West Africa from Digital Economy Transformation and Development Perspective at the conference.
