The Chinese government attaches due importance on cooperation in education, medical care service, administrative and industrial management.The cooperation of Ethiopia and China in human resource development has been raised as a week-long training of trainers (ToT) for Meles Zenawi Leadership Academy was opened here yesterday.
Opening the training, Academy President Dr. Tewdros Hagos said that Ethio-Chinesse cooperation spun many sectors with various cooperation agreements, one of which is to share experiences in human resource development.
"Out of this general agreement, the Chinese government has agreed to help the Academy by providing over 800 million Birr support, and share their experience when it comes to training high government officials as they have more experience in this regard."
He added that there is also agreement that an Ethiopian delegation would visit China and share their experiences on Ethiopia's democracy building process, development and governance, whilst a delegation from China is expected to come here on a similar mission.
The President also indicated that a delegation from China has already visited the Academy last May and offered training in curriculum development. The present one will revolve around leadership training teaching material development and benefits government policy and strategy meshed with China's experience, he added.
Furthermore, he disclosed that the Academy has already initiated contact with major universities in China to enable its trainees get education in MA or PhD level there.
Chinese Embassy in Ethiopia Economic and Commercial Counselor Liu Yu said that human resource development is crucial for any country's development particularly for Ethiopia as it is registering rapid economic development.
She also noted that the Chinese government attaches importance to human resource cooperation with countries, including Ethiopia, which spun various fields including education, medical care service, administrative management and industrial management.
Chinese Academy of Governance Deputy Director-General Du Zhengai also expressed his conviction that the training programme would enhance the relations between the two academies and build stronger ties.
