Morocco's Economic, Social and Environmental Council (EESC), a state-owned independent consultancy announced today the launching of a consultancy platform for Moroccans abroad seeking to invest in Morocco.
Through the platform, EESC aims to “preserve” and “enrich” ties binding the Moroccan community abroad with their home country. Additionally, it aims to “strengthen” their contribution to the country’s ongoing socio-economic development, EESC said in a statement.
EESC would also use the platform for market research purposes and to receive opinions and suggestions from the Moroccan community abroad, the statement adds.
To make the platform accessible to Moroccans across the world, it is available in seven languages: Arabic, English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, and Dutch.
The platform’s surveys would also be available to the Moroccan diaspora in the seven languages, to encourage Morrocans to log on “regardless of their country of birth or residence and them holding other nationalities,” the statement explains.
With the platform, the EESC hopes to address a number of issues, namely “how to better protect the rights and serve the interests of Moroccans abroad and on the national territory.”
In addition, the EESC statement specifies that they aim to understand “how to better involve Moroccans abroad in the implementation process of the national development model.” Furthermore, the EESC hopes to gain knowledge on “how to reduce challenges and strengthen the active participation of Moroccans abroad in the process of making public policies that concern them.”
The EESC intends to use the data from the platform for analysis and to propose recommendations to the government on the best policies that could be adopted to improve the quality of services Morocco offers its community abroad. In doing so, it aims to strengthen their contribution to the political, economic, and development process in Morocco, the statement concludes.
